Monday, June 27, marks National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) 2016, an event established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote HIV testing.

The CDC’s Act Against AIDS campaign offers five things you can do to observe NHTD:

  1. Read up on the facts: Learn the basics about HIV testing. 
  1. Get tested and encourage others to do the same. The CDC campaign “Doing It” offers testing resources and locations. To find a testing site near you, text your ZIP code to “KNOW IT” (566948).
  1. Join the CDC and Act Against AIDS on social media, download their sharable images and use hashtag #NHTD when you promote the event on your own social media.
  1. Regardless of your HIV status, you can spread the word about the CDC’s testing campaigns, particularly #DoingIt.
  1. Host a National HIV Testing Day event. You can find resources and materials including webinars and posters here, and you can register your event here.
