Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a serious form of liver disease.

Formerly known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), MASH is a serious condition caused by the accumulation of fat in the liver. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASLD), formerly known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an earlier stage. Over time, fat buildup in the liver can lead to inflammation, cirrhosis and liver cancer.
