Autism Is an Environmentally Induced Disorder
Contrary to what we are often told, autism is on the rise. While many policy pundits claim that autism is a genetic disorder that is just being diagnosed more often, the data tell another story. According to a 2014 CDC report, the prevalence of autism in U.S. children increased by 119.4 percent from 2000 (1 in 150) to 2010 (1 in 68).
Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the United States.
The increase in autism is being driven by environmental causes—heavy metals, toxins and pollutants—interacting with genetic predispositions. These facts are clearly laid out in James Lyons-Weiler’s The Environmental and Genetic Causes of Autism.
